Sierra Leone Association of Women in Sciences (SLAWiSE) was inaugurated during the 2nd Annual Science Education Workshop, May 2013. SLAWISE is a regional network for Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math’s and Medicine (STEM) in industry, enterprise, and academia. It is a forum to both offer and be offered help. Furthermore, it is a supportive environment to talk about issues that can be difficult to raise in competitive scientific environments.

OBJECTIVE

The main objective of SLAWiSE is to:

  • To help organize the annual science workshop with the Science Resources Foundation.
  • To help build and preserve the participation of Women in Science, engineering and technology (SET) fields in both industry and academia by organizing capacity building/networking meetings and access to mentoring schemes as well as gathering and distributing information.
